Napster was the seminal app that revolutionized peer-to-peer sharing of mp3 files and ushered the collapse of the music industry as we knew it. After the RIAA won its piracy lawsuit against the embattled startup, the major record labels invested $60 million to rebuild the Napster brand into a legal, paid consumer music service. I worked with the developers to design the digital rights management interface for the new application.

Ruckus was the legal version of Napster for college students to share music on campus. Costs for the music were covered under tuition bills with the majority of revenues going to the music rights holders. I worked closely with the founders to design version 1 of this desktop app.

Digital World Services is the European market leader for DRM-enabled music and video content delivery. I worked with the CEO to plan the user experience and design a co-branded, customizable interface for its partner API allowing for commerce vendors to offer a catalog of digital music to their customers.
